BMA Shortlisted For Eco Award

23/08/2010 | The Bathroom Manufacturers Association, which represents 75 well-known bathroom brands in the UK, is delighted to have been shortlisted for a major eco-award. The BMA has made it to the finals of the "Sustain Magazine Awards 2010" for its work in designing and developing the UK standard for Water Efficient Product Labelling. The scheme is shortlisted in the WATER category of the awards. In 2009 the scheme, known as WEPLS, underwent a major upgrade and is now recognised by DEFRA, WaterWise, CLG and The Energy Saving Trust. The WEPLS database is accessible via the web and can be found at www.water-efficiencylabel.org.uk/. Products listed in the scheme will be labelled to show their water efficiency credentials, details will be shown in manufacturers literature and a selection of point of sale material is being made available for retailers. The BMA's marketing committee which meets regularly and represents all sectors of the bathroom industry, is said to be 'cock-a-hoop' with the news. David Osborne, the committee chairman and MD of Roman Showers said "we are extremely pleased to have been shortlisted. This is recognition for the hard work and dedication of the BMA's secretariat which has brought water efficient labelling to the industry." Judges for the awards will be debating the shortlisted entries during early 2010 prior to announcements at the awards dinner at London's ecobuild exhibition on 2nd March 2010.
